In the past El Nino has helped us out of the drought, as the above graph illustrates. However, we have to contend with climate change. But only relying on El Nino will not work. Here is how southern California is looking so far after the most recent rains on January 31, 2016, we in southern California had torrential rains all day. However, we are still far from what is needed to take us out of the drought.
